At Kaily's preschool they provide eye tests for the children. Mostly they are looking for early sings of Lazy Eye or other childhood eye problems. This year they called me after Kaily had finished her test. I asked her teacher if she saw any problems that would indicate a problem. She told me not to worry about it and to just wait. That's what I was going to do, just wait until Kaily got to Kindergarten and then we would figure it out then. It kept nagging at me until I did do something about it.
We went to the Eye Dr and Kaily was great! They could tell right away that she had astigmatism. The Dr. said that other than her stig., after they adjusted for it she could see just fine. So he wrote her out a prescription for glasses. She was very excited to pick out her frames and pick out a case to go with it. When we went to pick it up though she said her eyes are fine and she doesn't need them anymore. She does look very cute in them though. The Dr said that might grow out of the stig or she might not, only time will tell.

Oh Kaily, you look so cute in your new glasses. They will help you see better. Karen this is a great post. Mother's intuition is so important. Hopefully she'll wear them.
Ha ha so cute!
Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I've had bad bad vision for a long time (like, 20/600 vision) and developed astigmatism as well after my first pregnancy. My hubby has perfect vision though. I'm hoping Sierra just got his genes on this one, but they did a quick eye test on her and the nurse wasn't good at all---she as prompting her for the right answer. I can't decide whether to try to find an opthamologist that can do kids or just ask for another check next time she's in the doctor's office.
She looks cute. The frames look great! Did you have any indication that you were noticing that she needed her eyes looked at? Or just a feeling? Good for you for following up with your feeling!
Kaily you look so cute!!!!! We love and miss you!!
Cutie!
I have an astigmatism and have since I was 3. They gave me glasses and made me wear patches over my eyes to try to strengthen my eyes. I still need glasses and always have. Just be grateful that glasses for children have come a long way since the early 80's!!
