Needing a New Car.

Because we have a baby on the way and our current car will be lucky to make it through the summer we are in need of a new vehicle. We are looking for a vehicle with a 3rd row. This doesn't limit us to just mini vans. So here's my question, what car do you like to use as a family car. I need the make and model as well as a reason why you like this vehicle?

Please leave all info in comments. I'm really just looking for some options and what others have liked. Thanks for your help.

I have a Nissian Armada. I LOVE it. It has a 3rd row and does have some room in the back of the 3rd row. But I do like the Suburbans also and you will have more room behind the 3rd row. Happy Car Shopping if there is such thing as "happy" car shopping. I LOVE having an SUV. My car is the luxury addition of it so it has tons of extras in it so probably why I love love love it so much, There are just SOO many things in cars these days. Things you would never really think of! Good luck!

my first preference is the old VW buses...

but we have a nissan quest. yes, minivan. here's why i like it.
1. sliding doors. i really don't remember what parking was like in UT, and i never had to get a child out of a car seat in a parking lot, but here, sliding doors are OH SO HELPFUL!! plus, they can open with the touch of a button. hand full of groceriers?? no problem. it's pouring rain and everybody needs to run in the car NOW? no problem. push the little buttons. SWEEET!!!
2. gas mileage. while it's not TONS better than SUVs, i do average 16 instead 11 or 12.
3. the folding down seats rock. but i guess SUVs do that too...

so i guess it's just the sliding doors and the gas mileage... OH, and easy access to the 3rd row.

but if i were to get an SUVish car, it would be the VW routan. it's got sliding doors still, but looks less vanish. has 3rd row seating... much more chic than my quest.

there's my 2 cents... and then some.

We love our Honda Oddyssey. We found a great deal on it used too so we got one with leather seats and an after market dvd player. My dad had a lexus rx300(which he has NOT had a good experience with- he got a total lemon brand new) and after driving my mini-van he has now decided to get a mini-van. We don't live where it snows though which would be the only reason I could see to get an SUV (or if you have more kids than a mini-van can hold).

I love Mini-Vans with kids. Its so much easier to move car seats around and buckle kids and easy access. Even the doors they don't swing out to hit another car!!! My personal dream would be the Honda Odyssey but Kia is actually really good and more affordable!! Love ya!!!!!!

we love our mazda mpv. It's a sport van so It has really big tires that can go anywhere but they cost an arm and a leg! It has the 3rd row seat that can fold down. That is what I love about mine. I would love a Honda Oddyssey but not in the budget right now!
