Books
I typically don't like to read. I have always gone in spurts with my reading, like it's an all or nothing kind of thing. Mostly through Jr. High and High school I ONLY read if it was required reading and even then, cliff notes worked great for me. I have a hard time getting "into" books usually. I have been known to read the first 3 chapters and then give up if I'm not pulled into it by then and I flip to the end and read the last 3 chapters. Y
ou're probably rolling your eyes. Clint, up until last year, has seen me read a total of maybe 4 books since we have been married. When the 4th movie of Harry Potter came out I caved and decided to read all of them. By the time I finished the first 6 the last book had just came out and I read it in 24 hrs. Then I took a break from reading while everyone around me tried to convince me to read the Twilight books. I declined many times and then I was approached as to why I had never read Jane Austin. (Jane Austin, to me, was one of those authors that English teachers made you read and, from what I heard from
my brothers, they weren't very good). *My rant is almost done, I promise* When I moved to Ogden the ladies in my ward again confronted me with the question about Twilight, the last book was coming out and the movie was too. They planned a GNO to go watch the movie and I went b/c I needed to get to know them. It just so happens that I loved the movie and I knew if I loved the movie I would enjoy the book. I was right and a little over a week later I finished all 4 of them. My poor husband. I wasn't kidding when I said all or nothing. When I read I get so caught up in what I'm reading I have a hard time
paying attention to anything else. So now that I have caught the reading bug once again I have actually tried to read Austin's Pride and Prejudice. I really liked it, so all of you who told me to read it and that I would like it were right. Never take advice from men when it comes to books with romance...goodness, what was I thinking. I am getting better at doing other things while I read a book, but if you don't see new entries on here for a period of time, you'll know that I am busy reading.

Yeah, I still haven't given in and read Twilight. I just don't think it's my thing. I suppose eventually I'll do it. I can't believe you believed your brothers!! What male has ever given a thumbs up to Jane Austen? Okay, there are a very few. I'm glad you're reading it. Pride and Prejudice is my all time favorite book. Matt calls Gilmore Girls a modern day Jane Austen thing. While that's not a completely accurate comparison, I can see where he gets that. Totally witty, strong females, lots of romance. (I still haven't seen the finally season of Gilmore Girls. Good Grief!! I did see the final episode, though.).
Good for you! The best thing is that your kids pick up a love of books from you! I'm a big Harry Potter and Jane Austen fan. I love Pride and Prejudice(love the movies too), Jane Eyre and Sense & Sensibility. I did read the 1st twilight book and just wasn't in to it. Maybe if I read the others I will like them more. I get the all or nothing thing. If I'm into a book, NOTHING else gets done!
Now that you have conquered a Jane Eyre book - try Charles Dickens, Great Expectations, or one of his other books, or Narnia series of CS Lewis. Reading is the best vacation when you have no money!
