My Big Brothers

Happy Birthday Jon and Jason! 5 Reasons (there are more) that I love my brothers
  1. Their love for family
  2. Their unconquerable spirit to achieve in everything
  3. The times they took to teach me when I was younger
  4. Their willingness to listen to me, even when I seemed crazy
  5. Their faith

I love you both so very much and I hope this year brings many happy memories for you!

St. Patty's Day

We went over to a friend's house to make cookies and play outside in the nice sunshine. The kids decided they wanted to play in the flour rather than help with the cookies so we let them play. We had a lot of fun!

The social butterfly

Everywhere we go Kaily makes new friends. She is so loving and accepting of everyone. In a matter of min. she will tell you all about our family, each person's name and where we live as well as where we used to live. She is especially proud to introduce her little brother. She talks about him all the time. We were at a wedding reception last night for one of Clint's friends and she sat down at a table with a bunch of Grandparents, had her cake and drink in front so she could eat, and as I left I could hear her say, "That's just my mom, her name is Karen and my name is Kaily and Karen is holding Conner, my little brother and she is going to talk to my dad, Clinton." Now that we had been introduced she could eat her cake. When I went back to the table to sit, only a few min. later she was telling them all what she was going to be when she grew up and that she was going to get married and have children of her own. As I sat down they all commented on how polite she is and how cute she is. Next thing I know she's off at another table doing the same thing. I don't know whether to be thankful she is so independent and NOT shy or to be scared.

Some things that she has said to me recently... After getting angry with her she turns to me and says, "Mom, don't you understand that you don't reprimand your daughter." (from Little Mermaid) "Mom, when I was little I used to do silly things." Me, "As apposed to now when you're so big?" "Yes like, you know, 10 years ago." (said very serious). She is giggling as she says this, "Mama you're kissing Dad again, you must really love him."

One thing is for sure, life is never dull with her around.

A rainy FHE

Kaily has been bugging us to make a rain stick since she saw one a few months ago. We have been putting it off and for FHE we finally made good on that promise. So we talked about how important water is and where rain comes from. We talked about the many reasons we need it to rain and because it snowed we also talked about the importance of a good snow pack in the mountains. Kaily loved it and then for the activity she helped me frost the cookies and then helped her dad make a rain stick. It's very easy to do, just go to this link.

A Day For Baking

I woke-up yesterday morning and found my front yard looking like this. It is March 9 and we have 7 inches of snow out there. After taking Kaily to school I decided to make good on the promise I made Clint about making bread. It's not like I was going to go anywhere and I didn't want to do laundry for the nth time. So I made bread and when Kaily got home from school she helped me make sugar cookies. After dinner w frosted them and had FHE. I'll blog about that later though. I ended up making 4 loafs of bread b/c I wanted to have 1 for French toast this morning, 1 to take to a good friend and the other 2 for my family to eat. Between Kaily and Conner they could eat a loaf in one day, if I let them.

In other news, Conner is walking all over now. I've tried to get a video of him walking, but every time I pull out the camera he crawls to me instead. So hopefully soon I'll get that for you to see, it really is very cute. He also has gotten to that age where he wants to do everything himself, especially eating. We can't sit down to any meal without a tantrum unless he gets his food first. Oh the mess he can make!
