Fun at the park

My kids LOVE to go to the park. Conner has recently learned how to say, "walk" and is constantly asking me to go for a walk. He has a particular place in mind when he says this though and if I don't go the right way he is quick to tell me. Where is it he wants to go? The park to swing. Here are some pics of our latest trip and a slide show from when my brother and his family were in town.
Kaily is learning how to swing herself.

This is his FAVORITE activity

Kaily wants to do the monkey bars to badly and Conner is headed for the slide.

My monkey man! What he didn't realize until too late was that the tree is infested with ants. Before he knew it they were crawling all over him. He got down pretty quick after that.

We had so much fun with Jason's family while they were here.

Glasses

At Kaily's preschool they provide eye tests for the children. Mostly they are looking for early sings of Lazy Eye or other childhood eye problems. This year they called me after Kaily had finished her test. I asked her teacher if she saw any problems that would indicate a problem. She told me not to worry about it and to just wait. That's what I was going to do, just wait until Kaily got to Kindergarten and then we would figure it out then. It kept nagging at me until I did do something about it.

We went to the Eye Dr and Kaily was great! They could tell right away that she had astigmatism. The Dr. said that other than her stig., after they adjusted for it she could see just fine. So he wrote her out a prescription for glasses. She was very excited to pick out her frames and pick out a case to go with it. When we went to pick it up though she said her eyes are fine and she doesn't need them anymore. She does look very cute in them though. The Dr said that might grow out of the stig or she might not, only time will tell.

Nature Park

On Monday we went to the Ogden Nature Park with Kaily's preschool. We had so much fun. Kaily saw Turkeys, birds of prey, and they talked to them about different things that grow and live in ponds, or lakes. Conner had a good time himself, he thinks he's so big. (=

My Mother's Day

Usually I get a wake-up call from Kaily about 7:30 every morning that consists of her very cold hand toughing my face. Not a pleasant way to wake up. Last Sunday, Mother's Day I didn't get that wake-up call. I awoke to little noises coming from her room.

Singing, laughing....do I hear Conner?...laughing, talking, singing...

I peak around the corner and I wished I had my camera....I see Kaily playing with Conner in his crib. She is handing him toys and saying, "Conner, it's Mother's day that means mommy gets to sleep in so we need to be quiet, SHHHHHH!" Then she proceeds to sing to him and make him laugh. My heart melted as I watched them. What a great gift!

Later that morning Kaily asks me if Dad is going to make me a Mother's Day breakfast because that's what you do on Mother's Day. She went upstairs and asked Clint to help her make me breakfast.

They did a great job and the breakfast pizza was delish! Clint got the kids ready for church on his own and let me get ready by myself, which NEVER happens.

After church we went to my parents house for some yummy food and visiting with family.

It was a great day!

To my Mom

I have searched many poems and many books to find the right words to express to my mom today, but there are none that do her justice. So, I will have to write what I feel is best and hope it will do.

My Mother...my Ma'mar, as I used to call her, has become one of my greatest friends. She is the one I long to talk with when my children are sick, when they have done something great and when they have not. She is the one I wish I could go shopping with. ( I know a shock to everyone, even me). As I have grown in my own motherhood I have learned a greater appreciation for her strength, her wisdom, her love. Her faith is remarkable and I tribute my own strength of faith to her in many ways. She taught me when I was very young to have faith in my Savior and our Heavenly Father. She taught me about how important prayer is.

My children ADORE her. They long to be with her and ask me if they can go to her almost every day. It makes my heart melt to watch her with them. She ADORES them right back. According to Kaily, "Grandma is my best friend."

So, on this day when we honor Mothers I would like to say, "Thank you". Thank you for all the late night chats since I have been married, all the times when I fall apart and you are there, all the times when you support my choices even when it hurts you to see me struggle. Thank you for letting me be me. I Love you!

Hope Sustains Us

"The things we hope in sustain us during our daily walk. They uphold us through trials, temptations, and sorrow. Everyone has experienced discouragement and difficulty. Indeed, there are times when the darkness may seem unbearable. It is in these times that the divine principles of the restored gospel we hope in can uphold us and carry us until, once again, we walk in the light."We hope in Jesus the Christ, in the goodness of God, in the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, in the knowledge that prayers are heard and answered. Because God has been faithful and kept His promises in the past, we can hope with confidence that God will keep His promises to us in the present and in the future. In times of distress, we can hold tightly to the hope that things will 'work together for [our] good' (D&C 90:24) as we follow the counsel of God's prophets. This type of hope in God, His goodness, and His power refreshes us with courage during difficult challenges and gives strength to those who feel threatened by enclosing walls of fear, doubt, and despair." There is Sunshine

Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes for us, I appreciate it very much. Things are going better this week. It's amazing the perspective I've gained through all this. I have learned so much about faith and trusting in my Heavenly Father. We may not know what's going to happen or where we will be in the next little bit, but I know that the Lord is in charge. Clint and I have had some great conversations since all this happened and I feel like our marriage has only strengthened. Together we have come to understand many principles of the gospel that we thought we understood before, but now we understand them better.

He is meeting with some people at the school to figure out a new POA. He is doing some research on his own to get more information. All of this is so he can make a better, more informed choice. There are lots of things to consider and lots of options open to us. Now we just have to figure out what is going to be the best one for our family. I'm sure many of you have been in similar situations with other things in your life.

Other news...Kids are doing great! Kaily is loving school and is sad that it's going to end soon. She has expressed a desire to dance and do gymnastics. We told her that she would have to choose one or the other. I think she has decided on Ballet. Conner is getting so big. He is a little tornado, into everything! He is so much worse than Kaily ever was about climbing and getting into trouble. Maybe it's b/c he's a boy. I know that if he's quiet than he is up to something. Everything has to be put higher than he can climb or reach. He is getting in 2 more molars and has been a little cranky b/c of it. Oh, and did I mention that he likes to tease. If Kaily is playing with something he will go and take it when she's not looking and run away. If she starts to scream he laughs until she catches up to him and than he screams like he's dying, even if she really hasn't done anything to him. I have to watch carefully so I don't get mad a Kaily unnecessarily. They both LOVE to be read to and are constantly bringing me new books.
