Corbin's First Haircut

Corbin has not been like my other kids at all in lots of ways, but mostly the hair.  My older two lost all their hair shortly after they were born and it didn't start growing until a lot later  Corbin has had all his hair since he was born, he never lost it.  So, because of that he had some extremely long strands and a lot of short little ones that are growing in now.  The back was looking a bit shaggy too and uneven so when I went to get my hair trimmed I took him with me to get his hair trimmed also.  He was a champ and did a great job.  Never cried once and enjoyed the sucker he got after.

Trunk-or-Treat

This year for Halloween my kids wanted to be lots of things. K told me she wanted to be a vampire and a witch and even tried to combine the two after I said no to a vampire b/c I already had the witch costume.  Con wanted to be a clown and a pirate again, this time I let him combine the two.  The only reason he wanted to be a clown is b/c he wanted his face painted.  I already had a pirate costume that he wore last year and I didn't have the time or money to spend on a clown costume.  You can call me cheap if you want.  Cor already had Con's costume from when he was little so that's what we used, not that he cared at all.  With all the activities we did this year the only time I let them get all decked out in their make-up and all was at the ward trunk-or-treat.  Since I was on my own with it the only pics I got are not that great but I'll share the one with all of them in costume so that you can see how cute I think they were. A Witchy Breakfast & A Pioneer Afternoon

Because Kaily had fall break last weekend we made some fun plans with friends and family.  Kaily and I started out Friday morning at Gardner Village where we joined some friends for a Witches breakfast.  It was lots of fun and I think we might do it again.  She got to dress up in her costume and dance around with the other witches.  then we walked around the village and found all the witches they had on display.  We both had a great time.

After the breakfast we met up with Tawnia and her girls to head up to This is the Place heritage park where the kids could go trick-or-treating and play fun games pioneer style.  They had lots of fun listening to a witch at the Witches Story corner tell her stories about ghosts and pumpkins.  We rode a train and they even got to do a little puppet show for us.  We were there all afternoon doing crafts, going on pony rides, petting pigs and goats, playing in a mini town and eating ice cream.  They also had a little parade for the kids in costume.  It was fun to do something we had never done before and Kaily said she would like to go back and see more things they have there when it's not Halloween.

Happy Birthday Mom

My mom and I have not always seen eye to eye, but I think that is the case with most young girls and their moms.  I have to admit I wasn't the easiest girl to raise or understand, being a bit of a tomboy between 4 brothers.  Like most girls, as I grew older and wiser and realized I wasn't so wise after all, I began to think of my mom as a friend and someone who I looked forward to go shopping with and tell my stories to.  Now that I am a mom I see some of the wisdom in her teachings and advice to me.  She is a wonderful grandma and my kids adore her. I am grateful everyday for her and her strength of character.  I know that at times it hasn't been an easy road but I'm thankful she chose to be a mom and I thankful to be her daughter.

On this day, a day we celebrate her life I would just like to say THANK YOU and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the woman I am proud to call Mom.

Corbin Birthday party

The Sat following Corbin's first birthday we had a small birthday party for him.  We wish more could have made it, but are grateful to those who did come and we had lots of fun.  For the first time in my kids life I made a birthday cake and frosted it, usually I buy one or I just make cupcakes.  I am proud of how it all turned out and since Corbin is only 1, Clint tells me that the party was really for me and the pictures.  Maybe he's right, but it was sure fun and I got some great pics.  Here are some of my favorites.

Corbin's Creative Thinking

Corbin is getting to that wonderful age of climbing and trying to walk.  We have a little storage bin for all his toys that we keep upstairs for him.  He has found out that he can dump all the toys out and use that box as a stool for him to get to things higher than his normal reach.  This has started a whole new level of trouble for him and us.  All day long I can hear that box being scooted across the floor.  This new idea has resulted in saying goodbye to my favorite Scentsy burner which they have discontinued, the dumping of the garbage can, pulling things off of counters, the ripping up of said things on counters, books coming off shelves, getting on the couch, climbing on living room table from the couch, climbing on and then falling off of chairs and many other little things.  Currently he is trying to get brave enough to get from Conner's bed into his.  It's kind of a bog fall when he gets up there he crawls back down, but I know it's only a matter of time before he takes the plunge.

Happy Birthday Corbin

I can't believe my baby is 1 already!  What happened to this past year?!

We did a small celebration today with just us and then we'll do another one with friends and family on Saturday. The kids picked out the gifts they wanted to give him.  Conner picked out a bath time rubber ducky pirate.  Kaily chose a little stuff puppy and Clint and I got him a new outfit.  He enjoyed the paper until he tried to eat it and the kids enjoyed watching him open his presents.

As of today he weighs 21 lbs and is 30" long.  He eats just about everything we give him and he is as curious as they come.  We love having him around and can't imagine life with out him.  I'll post more after the party.

Foraging

I don't know how it is at your house when your kids come home from school, but at my house it's non-stop eating.  Kaily is so hungry when she comes home all she wants to do is eat and eat.  It's as if they don't feed her lunch there, and I know she eats lunch, at least when I send it with her she does.  So, being that I'm new to this whole school thing, is this normal behavior?

Being a Soccer Mom

I have 3 kids, a mini van, and now a soccer player.  Kaily has been playing soccer for almost a month now and she loves it, most days.  I have tried to take pics at all her games and I know that other parents think I'm a little crazy for doing so.  I just hope I can do it for all my kids.  I will delight you with some of the better pics of Kaily playing.  Can I tell you I love spending these moments with her and it reminds me why I love this game so much.

Fun Run

Kaily did the Fun Run for her school again this year where she competed with the other girls in her grade.  She took first in her round and then won the overall round with the winners from the 3 other races.  She is very proud of herself.  This year the 1rst grade winners are in the same class. The class cheered them on as they ran.  We are so proud of Kaily and her desire to run will help her in many things as she grows.
