Already?!

I don't know what is normal since I was not so normal in the girl department, but is it normal for Kaily to be liking boys already?  There is a boy at her school who is very kind and was in her class last year whom she had a crush on at the end of last year.  I thought it would die out over the summer, alas, it did not.  Now that the year is in full swing she talks about him all the time and even wants to write little notes to him.  Any ideas on how I should go about this?

What's been going on at our house

you may have noticed that there has been a lot of posts put up recently and that is because I am finally putting up all the ones I have previously written, but couldn't find the time to finish.  We have been busy around our house these past few weeks.  So what have we been doing?

Clint has lots to do in school this semester and he has been hardly home.  It's going to be a challenging one, but he is learning a lot.

Kaily is LOVING school and her teacher.  I go in to help every Tuesday and Friday and I have enjoyed that.  She is reading at the top of her class and her math skills aren't far behind.  It looks like all those fights we had during the summer about doing math and reading is paying off.  She has made lots of new friends this year and I think we are going to put her in Girl Scouts with some of her school mates.  I am loving the conversations we have about the many things happening in her life.  She, as you can see below, has started soccer and it really enjoying that also.

Conner is a little more challenging than he used to be.  With Kaily being in school all day he needs someone to play with.  My attention cannot be on him alone all the time with Corbin around and he knows it.  He's a good kid most of the time, but he takes advantage of the times I have to be with Corbin.  We are still working on the whole potty training.  He's does pretty well during the day.  We are also working on the sounds of the alphabet and number recognition.  He would rather play on the computer all day.

For information on Corbin see below.

I have been busy with the kids and Clint.  I have also been canning a few things.  In the past month I have bottled 15 pints and 19 quarts of spaghetti sauce, 24 pints of green beans, 7 pints and 1 quart of tomatoes and 4 pints of salsa.  We still have broccoli coming and I have to cut it twice a week in order for it not to go to seed and our sun burst and roma cherry tomatoes are going crazy.  We have had a great turn out with our squash as well and if I didn't already have 10 quarts frozen I would do more.  Like I said above, I go to Kaily's school twice a week and I also go to the gym 3-4x a week.  Homework, meal cooking, putting kids down for naps, laundry, dishes and all the other normal house hold stuff and that takes up my week.

That's what has been going on at our house.

11 months

Corbin is 11 months already and I can't believe he is so close to being a year old, it seems impossible to have had the year go by as fast as it has.  I didn't post anything about his 10 month so there are many milestones he has had since 9 months.

  • First tooth finally came in at 10 months
  • cruses all over the place and I know it's just a matter of time before he starts to walk on his own
  • climbs the stairs, but won't go down
  • a fast little crawler now
  • wears 12 months clothes, finally.  We changed all of them over just a couple weeks ago
  • 21 lbs
  • says, "Mama", "Mommy", "Dada", "Sissy", "scary" and "up"
  • loves to be with his brother and sister
  • is a tease
  • LOVES my bathroom, especially the toilet paper
  • loves to be outside and to swing
  • still eats well and is learning to drink from a sippy
  • LOVES it when Clint is home and cries when he leaves
  • Loves to empty drawers, laundry baskets, shelves, cupboards, toy boxes, my wallet, basically anything that you can put things in
  • Can stand on his own, but is still scared
  • Doesn't like it when he's not getting any attention

Soccer Game

Kaily had her first soccer game last Saturday where she scored 3 goals and helped her team win the game.  She was nervous about playing at first and wasn't sure she would even like it.  After her first practice though she realized how much fun she was going to have and she mostly liked the idea that she got to run.  Most of her team played last year and there are some really good little players.  It'll be fun watching her grow and develop this skill over the next few months.  Her team name is the "Shooters".

I woke up this morning thinking about all the publicity that has been going on about Sept 11 2001.  I turned the television on and the kids an I watched the ceremonies.  We watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir pay tribute.  We cried a bit.  Kaily asked us why everyone was so sad, why we were sad.  So we told her about what happened 4 years before she was born, we told her of the many people who gave their life and we told her where we were when it all happened.  Then, in her innocence, she replied, "Maybe I was there too, maybe I knew some of them before I was born."  I cried.  Then Conner said, "It's okay mom, cuz we'll see them all again someday, they're living with Heavenly Father now.  Heavenly Father will protect their families."  I love the perfect faith and innocence of children.

I am so grateful for the many men and woman who have fought for our country over the last 10 years.  Clint and I were both on our missions and I came home shortly after this all happened.  I will never forget how I spent that day and who I spent it with.
