My monkeys

After the kids consumed 3 banana's in a matter of an hour Clint comments to me, "I live in a house full of monkeys." Kaily, hearing our conversation, says in return, "We ARE monkeys." As she jumps off the couch she says, in a very twangy voice, "See we're WILD!"

My English lesson...from a 4 yr old

I was choosing what video to show on the blog just below this and Kaily came into the room to help me decide. As we were watching it this was our conversation, "Mom, this video is a skittish video." "Why do you say that?" I asked her, shocked that she knew the word at all. "Because look at Andrew, he's not singing and that means he's skittish." She said it so matter-of-fact like that I had to repress laughter. Then as we looked at another video she started talking again. "Mom, this video is trepidatious." "Gaw, WHAT?! Where are you getting all these words?" "Well, it means the same as skittish." Also said very matter-of-fact like.

I don't know where she got it or who she heard it from, but she comes up with words like this all the time. The scary thing is sometimes I have to look up what she is saying so that I can give her the right definition, although, nine times out of ten she's used the word correctly.

Preschool graduation

We had our first preschool graduation yesterday. The teachers did an amazing job at getting the kids ready for the program and it was awesome! Of course when the music is playing my Kaily is dancing, I don't thing she can help herself. So while all the other kids were just standing there singing and doing the actions, my daughter was putting on a whole different show completed with an exuberant bow to the audience when they clapped. Her teacher tells me I should look into putting her in drama. My 4 yr old....I digress though. The program was great and Kaily was so excited to show us all the things she has been working on throughout the year. At Kaily's school not only do they teach them the basics but they also incorporate music into what they are learning. They start with teaching them what music notes are and then teach them the beat to each note. They are tested, more like just questioned, on them so that the teachers know they are able to sight read them in preparation for music lessons later on. She has informed me that she wants to learn to play the violin and the piano, maybe in another year. We are excited to send her back there next year and maybe we'll add a ballet class in there just to keep her busy. This might be a LONG summer if I don't find ways to keep her little mind busy. Before we went to graduation we went out to eat. Kaily is always asking to go to IHop, she just wants the pancakes and the restaurant atmosphere. We went to Dee's, she didn't care, she still got her pancakes. (=

Waiting for the presentation to begin.

Her great teacher!

What a weekend!

It has been a very busy few days for us. On Friday, May 29, we all went down to SLC for the entire weekend. Clint was so supportive in letting me hang out with a bunch of my HS friends and put on a production we did 12 years ago as a fund raiser for CHHS. It was so much fun and it was so good to see everyone again. I am glad it's over and in looking back at the whole experience it reminded me of a few things, both good and bad. If I was ever aching to get back into doing all that stuff I think it is out of my system for a while. At least I know it's like riding a bike if I DO ever want to go back. I wasn't actually in the play, I was in my usual spot, back stage. We put everything together on Friday and then rehearsed ALL Sat. and preformed Sat. night. I was exhausted by the end and was very glad to go to my parents house to sleep.

Tuesday we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. It was beautiful and hopefully next time I can remember to bring my camera to take pics of everything. This whole weekend I forgot my camera... Any way, we took the kids and had a great time. Kaily had so many questions and loved the whole experience and asked when she can go back. Conner was 16 months, which translates to ALL OVER THE PLACE! He was a bit of a handful, but what can you expect from one so small. If any of you are interested in going I have left a link to follow for tickets.

All of the great things that went on this weekend reminded me of some pretty important things. It made me grateful for my family, my great friends and most of all, the gospel. There are not words to express just how thankful I am to have married the man I did and to have the knowledge I have. My eyes were opened to some disappointments this weekend and it made me truly humble and thankful for the light in my life and what puts it there.
